When Falconet was appointed director of the royal porcelain
factory at Sevre, he created these two Rococo style sculptures
of Garde A Vour and Amour Menacant, the cupids of their time.
Also known as beware and mischievous love.
Falconet, Étienne Maurice (1716-1791), French 18th-century sculptor,
His early works, such as The Bather (1757, Louvre, Paris), combining
classical
and Roccoco style. The spirit of his work is more lighthearted
and playful
and the scale frequently smaller than the sculpture of their
baroque predecessors.
Made in the USA
Made of solid cast marble material and
shown here in a gold faux acrylic paint.
